ScholarshipsHaybridge Sixth Form is delighted to be able to offer ten academic scholarships each year
Applications are welcome from students currently in Year 11 at Haybridge and from students studying elsewhere who will join the Sixth Form in September.
The award of £250 is to be used to support Advanced Level academic study in Years 12 and 13 and agreed enrichment activities such as University Summer Schools in preparation for Higher Education at Russell Group universities, Oxford and Cambridge. The Scholarship is a very prestigious academic award and we have high expectations of our Scholars.Criteria for Scholarship application
The annual award of a scholarship will be at the discretion of the Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form.
Students who are predicted to achieve eight or more Grade 9-8s at GCSE will be invited to apply for the Scholarship and will attend an interview with the Headteacher.
If students then achieve eight or more Grade 8s at GCSE then they will receive their Scholarship Finance at the start of their studies at Haybridge.
Scholars will be expected to
- Routinely commit to an intellectual journey above and beyond the demands of public examinations.
- Consistently achieve high attainment grades in examinations and in their reports. We also recommend Scholars undertake the Extended Project Qualification in Year 12 to prepare them for their university studies.
- Make a contribution to the academic life of the Sixth Form; this could be by acting as a Subject Mentor, Ambassador or undertaking an Officer role.
We expect, based on experience, that all of those awarded the status of Scholar will consistently fulfil the requirements for the retention of their scholarships and that the process of review will help them to meet and make the most of the status they have received.
All academic scholarships awarded will be subject to termly review.
The 16-19 Bursary Fund is paid by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) to Schools and Colleges so that they may provide financial support to students whose access to or completion of education might be inhibited by financial constraints.
